چکیده

but purified adenylate kinase of muscle tissue does not catalyse reaction (2). It is possible that the enzyme is identical with the adenylate kinase of other tissues, which, according to Kotelnikova (1949, 1950) and Barkulis & Lehninger (1951), differs from the muscle-adenylate kinase. It is also possible that the transfer is the result of the combined action of reactions (3) and (1). In this case catalytic quantities of ADP and ATP would participate in the reaction. No detectable quantities of these reagents were present at the beginning of the incubation period, but this does not rule out the presence of catalytic amounts.

Reactions of inosine- and adenosinetriphosphates with actomyosin and myosin.

Ever since the presence of adenosinetriphosphate (ATP) in muscle was recognized by Lohmann (I), many muscular phenomena have been associated with it. Myosin threads (myosin B) prepared according to the method of Weber (2) and the glycerol-treated muscle fibers of SzentGyorgyi (3) contract on addition of ATP (4). This nucleotide also causes a reduction in viscosity of actomyosin solutions in 0.5...

A Kinetic Comparison on the Inhibition of Adenosine Deaminase by Purine Drugs

The effects of allopurinol, acyclovir and theophylline on the activity of adenosine deaminase (ADA) were studied in 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer pH 7.5 at 27°C, using a UV– Vis spectrophotometer. Adenosine deaminase is inhibited by these ligands, via different types of inhibition. Allopurinol, as a transition state analog of xanthine oxidase, and acyclovir competitively inhibit the catalytic a...

The Regulation of Pinocytosis in Mouse Macrophages

A study has been conducted on the influence of nucleosides and nucleotides to induce the formation of pinocytic vesicles in cultured mouse macrophages. Extremely high levels of cytoplasmic vesicles were found after exposure of macrophages to adenosine 5'-phosphate, ADP, and ATP. A limited vesicle response was obtained with adenosine 2'-. and 3'-phosphate, 3',5'-adenosine-phosphate, and deoxyade...

Identification of enzymes for adenosine-to-inosine editing and discovery of cytidine-to-uridine editing in nucleus-encoded transfer RNAs of Arabidopsis.

In all organisms, transfer RNAs (tRNAs) contain numerous modified nucleotides. For many base modifications in tRNAs, the functional significance is not well understood, and the enzymes performing the modification reactions are unknown. Here, we have studied members of a family of putative nucleotide deaminases in the model plant Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). We show that two Arabidopsis g...
